Workshops

Professional Development for Educators

In order to enhance the understanding of emerging technologies like UAS among STEM as well as Career Technical Education (CTE) instructors, the UASTEP project will host annual workshops and follow-up mentoring designed to introduce participants to the operation, capabilities, and applications of UAS. The project team will build on the GeoTech Center’s faculty professional development model and provide two workshops (one in 2018, and one in 2019) for educators. Each workshop will last two consecutive weekends. Participants will spend the first weekend learning to operate UAS safely and gather primary or secondary UAS data, then spend the second weekend developing UAS curriculum for their disciplines. Participants are encouraged to present and share their work at professional conferences, and will receive mentoring until the end of the project.
